Louis Braille’s 201 th Birth Anniversary Celebrated at Govt.School for Visually Impaired Kunnamkulam with Exhibition of Braille equipments, teaching aids, students made various craft works, Computer software for V.I etc. This small documentary exhibited in Exhibition and the evening programme (xmas, newyear & Louis Braille’s) with IDA(Indian Dental Association) family members, Parents of students, Invited quests etc..Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairman Inaugurated Exhibition and Kunnamkulam MLA inaugurated the evening function.
We hope through this small documentary we can spread Louis Braille’s Message and vision etc…

The inner part of the coin depicts a hand reading an open book by touch. Above the index finger, which is pointing at the vertical inscription LOUIS BRAILLE 18092009, are two birds symbolising freedom of knowledge. The issuing country reference RI is at the top right, while the mint mark R is at the bottom right. Braille’s name is written under the book in the Braille alphabet that he invented. At the very bottom are the initials MCC of the artist Maria Carmela Colanéri. The twelve stars of the European Union surround the design on the outer ring of the coin.

Dr. Marc Maurer, president of the National Federation of the Blind and a 1974 University of Notre Dame alumnus, was keynote speaker for “Blindness: A Symposium, held in March 2009 at the University to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of French inventor Louis Braille.
