Famous Blind People

June 8, 2010 - 11:57 am No Comments

Slide 1:
10 Famous Blind People Who Changed the World
Blindness is the complete lack of form and light perception. Most people believe that we see with our eyes.
The fact is, however, that it is our brain that “perceives” what we think we see. These famous blind people have changed and shaped the world in many areas such as music, politics, science, art and sport because they refused to allow their lack of external light perception to quench or stifle their inner light. The world has been illuminated by their courage and talent.

Slide 2:
Louis Braille
Louis Braille – (January 4, 1809-January 6, 1852)
Louis Braille accidentally stabbed himself in the eye, becoming blind from this injury. He was the inventor and designer of Braille writing which enables blind people to read from a series of organized bumps. Six dots. Six bumps. Six bumps in different patterns, like constellations, spreading out over the page. What are they? Numbers, letters, words. Who made this code? None other than Louis Braille, a French 12-year-old, who was also blind. And his work changed the world of reading and writing, forever.

Gore’s most important contributions were his staunch support of the oil industry, soil conservation, and American Indian tribal issues. But he may be best remembered for his glowing tribute of his adopted state. He said, “I love Oklahoma. I love every blade of her grass. I love every grain of her sands. I am proud of her past and I am confident of her future. The virtues that made us great in the past can keep us great in the future. We must march, and not merely mark time.

Saycet – Opal Remix

May 31, 2010 - 11:02 am 20 Comments

A remix to an awesome electronica song by Saycet – Opal. Please subscribe and comment. Thank you!

Lyrics © 2010:
She was the one that he never chose to love.
Cause he wanted to be close and it wasnt close enough.
And they let their shoulders rub, when she showed her only one
But the silence was something she could never overcome.
Opal was mute,
They would communicate from sunup to sundown
And every time, she acted as if someone cut her tongue out.
Drawing letters on his back just to see if he could guess it.
But he was always wrong, yeah, youd think hed learned his lesson
When she wrote that she was leaving, but it didnt make a difference.
Cause the note that he was reading wasnt any of his business
Her glossary was probably
complicated, it ought to be.
They were music prodigies
the songs were amazing.
He knows she lost the lottery
and never saw him naked.
Now shes taunting him we could say
from different states and places
But hes drawing constellations
so she can make it back with a map and one day
promise him she’ll make it.
Is he honestly mistaken?
Is it locked or is it vacant?
Appalled and impatient.
He stopped on the pavement
watched from the gate and
knocked with persuasion
but he was too late.
Her belongings were taken.
Chorus
He became a mute, thinking its the same as you.
Never tell a lie, but keeping secrets just for the sake of truth.
He would wait a day or two, for a sign that they were through.
And that note that he was reading felt engraved on his tomb.
Cause inside he died, and along with his language.
But in time his pride kept him from speaking to strangers.
He was waiting for a reason to say something important
While the seasons would change, but nothing in four months
Not a telephone call or a letter in the mail
But he began to wonder if he would go blind from reading Braille.
Cause she was really gone and his senses deceived him.
Unless theres a reason for why she was leaving.
He wrote on the walls of what it could possibly be
Writing math problems, novellas, and squared

May 27, 2010 - 1:10 pm 25 Comments

To Make the guy move from the entrance of the cave u have to:
* NOTE NATIONAL DEX NEEDED*
Go to one Island and speak to Cellio and Bill(not sure if u have to talk to bill)
He will tell u to bring hime the RUBy and SAPPHIRE gem’s(or crystals but u get the idea). Now go to MT.Ember..whn u reach there go to the Team Rocket Grunts who are blocking the cave entrance..talk to them and u will get in to a battle with both the grunt’s

Team Rocket Grunt(number 1)
Ratatta (35)
Raticate (35)
Sandshrew (35)
Sandslash (35)

Team Rocket Grunt(number 2)
Cubone (37)
Marowak (37)

When you beat both trainers, they will step away from the cave entrance. Go west and take the ladder down, then keep moving to the next ladder. On the next floor down, use Strength to move the boulders. Make sure you don’t push the middle boulder to the right. Instead, go up and around to get to the ladder to the south. On the next floor down, push the boulder right and down to get past. At the split in the path, go south (not east, as that is the way out). Push the single stone down the long path toward the small waterfalls and go down the stairs, then down the ladder. When you arrive below, you’ll see several encrypted messages. Ingnore them for now and go down the ladder to grab the Ruby below.
Go back to the east path and follow the ladders out of this cave. Return to the Pokemon Center and speak to Bill. He’ll take your Tri Pass and Town Map and replace it with the Rainbow Pass and ask you to go to the Sevii Islands.
Now for Sapphire you must go to Ruin Valley. It is in six island.
Ruin Valley
When you get to the grassy portion, head south. Push the rocks near the southern bend to get the Sun Stone, then return north. Take the path west and cut through the grass. Continue down until you reach two paths leading down. Take the leftmost one to locate an HP Up. Go down the right path leading south to find a staircase leading up to fight with the next trainer.
Go north then east to find some stairs up to another couple of trainer battles.
Continue south down the stairs and move to the door. It has a braille inscription. It says Cut, so use Cut on the door and it will open. Go inside to get into Dotted Hole.
Dotted Hole
Inside this cave, drop through the hole in the floor. There is a tablet with more cuneiform writing on it. It will give you directions… but what do you care? We’re gonna tell you first:
• UP
• LEFT
• RIGHT
• DOWN
When you get to the bottom, you’ll find the Sapphire. As you take it, some scientist shows up and steals it from you, taking it to Five Island. Now go to 5 Island to the Rocket Hideout and find the SAPPHIRE gem and after u retrive it from the scientist go back to 1 island and give the gem to Cellio..now go to the Crulean Cave and catch Mewtwo

Woohoo +50,000 veiws..

thanks

Signed, Your Studious Apprentice [Original Poem]

May 11, 2010 - 11:35 pm 6 Comments

Signed, Your Studious Apprentice

I want to read you
like a borrowed book.
The blind reading the blind
with tangible hands
to decide whether your skin
is Braille or Morse Code.
I want to study your
insides and outsides
follow the road between
your brain and your eyes…
are open.
Can you please close them again?
Instead, imagine me
from any When you want
and write it in capital letters
on your skin
so I can read it with my fingers.

P.S.

Where do you keep the Objectivity?
In case I start to run out of mine.
I study the vials, but I want to drink them—
I might turn into a permanent resident of the academy.
What colour is the grass over there?
It always looks greener from the other side of the bed.

Signed,
Your Studious Apprentice
