How to learn braille in a week?
November 27, 2011 - 8:36 pm
I’m in college and i have a special education class, the teacher said that we need to learn how to read braille for the next week, if we can’t that’s 10 points less from our final grade. So i need some tips about learning braille please. Thank You.
@Kevin Actually, that’s exactly what he plans : /
I doubt very much you understood the task. You cannot learn to read Braille in a week. Not even in a semester. You could learn to visually read Braille letters in a week. Or learn the basic gramatical structure of Braille. Or learn about the different grades of Braille. You need to discuss this with your professor further.

Are you blind ? If not then you can’t read braille

Tell you teacher to go f*** herself. You can’t learn ANY language in 10 days. Actually, tell the head of the department about her. She is just wrong for assigning that.

Get a copy of the braille alphabet and start studying. Learn letters in groups of 4 or 5. Our brain memorizes things easier in groups like that.
Hopefully your teacher isn’t requiring you to learn braille by touch. That kind of sensitivity takes years to develop. Reading by sight should be as easy as just memorizing the alphabet.

Ya use flash cards and write down like on a test multiple choice, A~Z what is the braille letter for each? Grade yourself like the instructor. Take frequent breaks and keep hydrated.
You cannot help but learn Braille by seeing it, if you are sighted.
