BrailleNote Notetaker for the blind

This is just a small glimpse of what I do with my BrailleNote notetaking PDA device. If you are either legally or totally blind, and are grade 2 braille literate, this is the ideal tool for you at home, work, school, or on the go. I’ll be adding more videos of the BrailleNote later, and the same with my computer.

    Thank you so much …
Thank you so much for this! I had a college professor who is now also a friend who used this (She is blind from birth and teaches English). I was looking for a video just like this to show my Mom how cool this was. I wish you the best of luck with all!

    I use braille just …
I use braille just about every day – read to my wife – take short notes at work. I want to get to that 2 minute page (100+ words a minute). I know I’ll NEVER do that with print. It will just take more practice. Been reading about 5 years so I’m just new to braille I guess – I’m 53. I relate to your comment about employers in another video. They think you can’t do it if you can’t see. I’ve had poor vison my whole life – seen people’s react my whole life. Email me if you’d like to talk.

Well, I certainly wish you the best of luck on learning and mastering the PAC Mate, and I also wish you the best of luck at the Guide Dog learning program. I hope you and your guide dog will be long-life partners. Peace.

I spoken with Beverly at the NFBGA and she knew of no funding that NFB may have had. As for going through Voc Rehab that be for nothing right now since I’m working and its work that doesn’t require any notetaking. But hey I’m getting a good deal on the PAC Mate Omni so I’ll learn the PAC mate hopefully, I have a whole month while at Southeastern Guide dogs this month.

I got my BrailleNote through my state Rehab agency because of work and school. They are quite expensive. I’ve never used a PacMate in my life. If you really want to purchase a Braille/VoiceNote, my best advice would to go through your state rehab agency, or you can seek help from the National Federation of the Blind. Thanks for watching.

What version of KeySoft are you using on your unit? If you’re using KeySoft 7.0 or 7.2, I’d urge you to upgrade your unit, as HumanWare have improved support for SD cards and USB thumbdrives.

thanks guys! this info has helped me alot, i’ve tried a new SD card, a large capacity memory to be exact, but i can’t remember which size.. but it works!

    Thanks everyone xxx

I haven’t had any of the issues you talk about, but I tried putting a 16 GB SD card into a USB card reader and plugging it into my VoiceNote, and it worked, but results may vary. I don’t believe the SD card slot in the BrailleNote itself works with SDHC cards, at least, that’s what HumanWare Australia told me.

Mine occasionally freezes especially when I connect to the internet using my wireless ethernet card, and I have to reset the machine. As for the maximum memory capacity, I am not sure if 4 GB’s is the maximum capacity of memory the BT can handle. You may want to contact Humanware’s Technical Support for that one. I couldn’t find such info anywhere in the manual. Sorry I couldn’t answer your second question. Peace.

do you ever have problems with your unit? mine always seems to go abit crazy when i plug a thumb drive into it! is it true that only a 4GIG thumb drive is the largest memory stick the memory can handle?
