The software …
The software controlling Refreshabraille18 is what decides if you get contracted or uncontracted braille from the device. It would help to know which software is in use. Most programs default to contracted braille, but if the software starts out in uncontracted mode, there is usually an option somewhere in the screen reader to turn it on. If this is in use with the Braille+, the option is located in Settings/Braille.

My current refreshabraille only shows uncontracted braille (grade 1)
Do you know how to change it to grade 2 braille – contracted braille? Is it an option?

You simply hold down the button to the far right AND the button to the far left at the same time. That switches the orientation.

Ok, this is LeAnna, Chase’s teacher. We checked out the Rebreshabraille with my Mac, which has Snow Leopard installed. It worked immediately when we plugged it into the USB port! We were able to use it to nagivate the desktop, the dock and several of the programs I have installed. We will need to become more familiar with VoiceOver to give a better review.
