Why would a drive thru ATM have brail? A blind person shouln’d be driving..?

Your government at work!

A federal law passed several years ago required ATM machines to provide equal access to disabled persons. The law doesn’t differentiate between drive-up or walk-up machines, so now ALL ATMs have to have braille letters available on the key pads.

if the blind person can drive
    they can use atm freely.
without forces, they have right to what they want to do
unless if he lives in US.

The blind person would have a driver than he would go up to the ATM and use it.

LOL! I’ve noticed that too. Cracks me up! Probably has more to do with lawyers than common sense!

It is because of accessibility laws. It is required to have them built that way, since they dont know where the atm will be.

A blind person cannot drive, but they can use an atm thanks to these laws, silly as the are or at least seem.

    It is for blind passengers.

It’s cheaper to build them all the same, and now they are universal and can be installed anywhere.

They only need to make one keypad for all ATM machines. Having two separate production lines to manufacture ATM machines (or at least just the keypad) for walk-up installations and one for drive-up installations is dumb and expensive.

I could ask the same question in a different way. Why do they have braille on the ATM keypads. Sighted people can’t read braille.

I don’t feel I should have to answer this because it’s, literally, a dumb question…with all due respect of course. But here it goes, ATM’s, much like everything else that is manufactured, is done on a line. It is much cheaper to have one assembly line that produces an item identically, than it is to make two different items on two different lines. It’s all about money…which comes from time…which I’m wasting answering this question. That’ll be $2.50 please.

The blind person probably has someone driving them to the ATM and helping them to use it.

me and my brother thought the same thing.. the only answer we could come up with is that they have to do it because of ADA requirements.
